“The Palestine Poster Project” is a monumental digital repository of political art/posters connected with the struggle for liberation in Palestine. I am inviting you to look closely at one special collection of posters available on the site (there are many special collections and ways to explore the site’s 23,000 posters…I am choosing only one subset for us to work with: The Liberation Graphics Collection). You won’t be able to look at all 1,600 posters in this collection — but look at as many as you can!

To prepare for class, please choose FOUR posters that particularly stand out to you or that intrigue you for some reason, and then RESEARCH them, using any sources available to you to find out more about the occasion/context of their production, meaning of text or images, identity of the artist or collective entity associated with the poster. Be sure to take notes on your research and then be prepared also to share your research in class.
