Curatorial Research: Acceptable work submission formats
WEEKLY CURATORIAL RESEARCH:
You may choose to bring your collection into class as a PHYSICAL copy (copies of books, photocopies, etc.), or you may choose to bring your collection in in a digital format. If you choose to bring it in a digital format for our WEEKLY sharing sessions, I will ask you to share your collections with others in the class on your own laptop/tablet — this is not a formal presentation but an informal “show and tell”-type sharing of your work (sometimes in small groups, sometimes in a whole-class format).
IT IS NEVER ACCEPTABLE TO USE YOUR PHONE TO SHARE DIGITAL FILES CONNECTED WITH YOUR CURATORIAL RESEARCH (um…this is the real world).
FINAL PORTFOLIO SUBMISSION:
At the end of the semester, you will be submitting ALL of your curated image collections to me, as part of your final portfolio, PLUS handing in an original final project, on a photographer or question chosen by you, which will also result in a curated image collection (of 5-10 images). We will discuss formal final submission protocols and project specs over the course of the semester.
NOTE:
Your curated image collections/curatorial research will be your primary assessed work for the course.
Your regular curatorial research will be handed in TWICE — first as part of our WEEKLY work-shares and then as part of the final portfolio (DUE DECEMBER 12).
Your final project research will also be handed in TWICE – first as part of an ORAL FINAL PROJECT PRESENTATION that you make to the class and then as part of the final portfolio.
